1. About Pear
Pear is a browser extension developed by Hussein Akl. It removes known tracking parameters from URLs so users can copy, share, or open cleaner links.
2. Information Pear processes
To provide its core function, Pear reads the URL of the active browser tab when you open the extension and reads a link URL when you use Pear from the browser context menu. This processing occurs locally on your device.
3. Information stored locally
Pear may store extension preferences in browser storage, including custom tracking parameters, websites you choose to exclude from cleaning, and local usage counters such as the number of links cleaned or parameters removed. This information is used only to provide the extension's settings and local statistics.
4. Data transmission
Pear does not send cleaned URLs, browsing URLs, settings, or local statistics to Hussein Akl or to a Pear-operated server. Pear has no account system, backend database, advertising integration, or analytics service.
5. Selling or sharing data
Pear does not sell personal information. Pear does not share browsing data with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.
6. Permissions
Pear requests only browser permissions needed for its functionality, including access to the current active tab when invoked, context-menu actions, local extension storage, and clipboard functionality used when you choose to copy a cleaned link.
7. Third-party websites
Pear can clean links that point to third-party websites. Those websites have their own privacy practices and are not controlled by Pear or Hussein Akl.
8. Changes to this policy
If Pear's functionality or data practices materially change, this policy will be updated before or alongside the relevant release.
